Farm Animal Display

Room 9 girls were really excited to create a farm whereby they used a tray and collected soil and barks to give a real touch. Then they build a fence with ice block sticks and a little old barn as well. The girls thought to use plastic animals and even placed a pond filled with water for ducks to swim. Their creativity was awesome!

Captain Hook never flushes the toilet!

Room 9’s AWESOME WRITING

The name of this captain is Captain Hook. He looks creepy and just a little bit scary. “Don’t you think so?”  I am just saying that he is a little bit scary because he has no hand on one of the arms.

Captain Hook never flushes the toilet. He is always wearing the same clothes everyday. Captain Hook might even be stinky because he wears the same clothes every single day and that is so stinky right? Captain Hook never washes his hands and he doesn’t even  showers!  Well, guess what? I always take a shower.

He also steals treasure and I don’t like to steal because when you steal then you will get into big trouble. Captain Hook has a very big hat. I am pretty sure the hat would not fit me. Do you think that anyone else would be able to fit it? Yes, I  know one who would be able to fit in the hat and that is Captain Hook himself. He has big rips in his clothes and that is maybe why he does not even change his own clothes.

He always ends up fighting at school. Children  like 12 years old don’t want to be friends with him because he always farts and gets rude.
The funniest thing is that he has a very long mustache with his wavy hair and he looks hilarious!!

Tug of War recount by Angel

On Wednesday Room 9 children versed with Room 8 children to play Tug of War at the senior fields. We chose to play this game because this term we are studying about movement. So we wanted to know how it feels like when you pull anything.

This is all about tug of war and tug of war is really fun and it can make you strong and room 8 thought of this plan and room 8 won because they are much stronger than us.
We have to pull really hard because the room 8 girls and boys put all their strength and energy to pull. Then came the best part of Tug of War whereby our teacher versed with Mrs Kumar. The saddest part was our teacher did not win just because the boys from room 8 helped Mrs Kumar to pull the rope hard.

But I felt that was a really good game and I wished we can do that again because it is really fun. At the end I had a drink of water because I was tired like other people I felt really happy and I love playing tug of war and my favourite part was when the teachers were doing it and we all were very excited to watch the teachers.

Tug of War

Our Inquiry topic for this term is about Movements (Pull and Push). In order to understand the concept, Room 9 and Room 8 children organised the Tug of War. Both the classes pulled the ropes towards their side. That way they were able to visualise the pulling part and feel the pressure when someone pulls something.

Asi's long weekend recount

Queen Elizabeth’s  birthday was on the 3rd of June and it happened on Monday . Queen Elizabeth’s palace is in London and that is where Queen Elizabeth lives with her Royal family members.

In the weekend I went to my Nana’s  house and we we watched TV and ate lots of delicious food and we had lots and lots of fun . Then we played with our cousins.

Finally, my mum  and dad came to pick us up. That was the saddest part of our trip.

Rain rain go away come again some other day.....

Early in the morning it was raining heavily. My mum woke me up to get ready I was so so cold. I had my  shower but I was a little bit late. But as long as I wasn't too late that is alright.

Guess what my  Chromebook was not even charged so I went for volunteer reading instead. It was fun reading with the volunteers. After morning tea it rained heavily again. I felt like going back home and snuggle in my bed. I like watching movies on rainy days and also eating popcorn and hot chips.

I kept myself warm throughout the day as it was still raining. Finally, my mum came to pick me up. It was still raining and I had a quick rainbath with my friends.

Room 9's Whakapapa

We have made a good progress for our upcoming whakapapa family tree. There are more photos now and we have put some leaves as well. Room 9's have drew their family pictures on the leaves. Just to add more detail we have painted some red cherries and flowers amongst the green grass. Our next step is to put up a Title for our family tree. Any ideas are most welcome!!

Our Whakapapa Family Tree

Room 9's are working on a culture display this week and we made a tree with branches. Then we used brown paint for the stem and branches. Later on we used green paint to draw the grass. The final step is to put our family photos. The purpose of our whakapapa is to strengthen our family root and know more about our family ties.
